Poem 3

God's Wheel by Shel Silverstein

God says to me with a kind of smile,
"Hey how would you like to be God awhile
And steer the world?"
"Okay," says I, "I'll give it a try.
Where do I set?
How much do I get?
What time is lunch?
When can I quit?"
"Gimme back that wheel," says God.
"I don't think you're quite ready yet."

Dialogue 2

Priest: Don't be afraid, my son. No one is more powerful than God.
Calogero 'C' Anello: I don't know about that, father. Your guy may be bigger than my guy up there, but my guy is bigger than your guy down here.
Priest: Ya got a point.

Election Day - HOPE!!! - Quotes

Change doesn't come from Washington. Change comes to Washington.
- Barack Obama, DNC Speech, August 8, 2008

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
- Barack Obama, speech, February 5, 2008

I will never forget that the only reason I'm standing here today is because somebody, somewhere stood up for me when it was risky. Stood up when it was hard. Stood up when it wasn't popular. And because that somebody stood up, a few more stood up. And then a few thousand stood up. And then a few million stood up. And standing up, with courage and clear purpose, they somehow managed to change the world.
- Barack Obama, speech, January 8, 2008

Lyrics 4 (dedicated to AG & HN)

In Repair by John Mayer

Too many shadows in my room
Too many hours in this midnight
Too many corners in my mind
So much to do to set my heart right

Oh it's taking so long
I could be wrong
I could be ready
Oh but if I take my heart's advice
I should assume it's still unsteady
I am in repair, I am in repair

Stood on the corner for a while
To wait for the wind to blow down on me
Hoping it takes with it my old ways
And brings some brand new luck upon me

Oh it's taking so long
I could be wrong
I could be ready
Oh but if i take my heart's advice
I should assume it's still unsteady
I am in repair, I am in repair

And now I'm walking in a park
All of the birds they dance below me
Maybe when things turn green again
It will be good to say you know me

Oh it's taking so long
I could be wrong
I could be ready
Oh but if I take my heart's advice
I should assume it's still unready
Oh I'm never really ready
I'm never really ready

I'm in repair
I'm not together, but I'm getting there
I'm in repair
I'm not together, but I'm getting there
I'm in repair
I'm not together, but I'm getting there

Lyrics 3

Better Togther by Jack Johnson

There's no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard,
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things,
Like a shoebox of photographs,
With sepiatone loving,
Love is the answer
At least for most of the questions in my heart ,
Like why are we here?
And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,
And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

MMM, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, we'll look at the stars when we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they'll be gone,
When the morning light sings
And brings new things,
But tomorrow night you see
That they'll be gone too,
Too many things I have to do,
But if all of these dreams might find their way
Into my day to day scene
I'll be under the impression, .
I was somewhere in between
With only two, Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do,
Or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree now

Yeah, it's always better when we're together MMM,
We're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm
I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when,
and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing,
We're better together

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

In Memory - Paul Newman Quotes

Rest In Peace - Paul Newman
January 26, 1925 - September 27, 2008

ON HIS CAREER
"I'm basically an irresponsible person, and I wanted to find a way of life that allowed me to continue in my irresponsibility. If you're lucky enough to do that, there's a kind of genius in it. If you fail, of course, it's disastrous. I've been lucky, but now it looks like some kind of grand design."

ON WINNING AN OSCAR
"It's like chasing a beautiful woman for 80 years. Finally, she relents and you say: 'I'm terribly sorry. I'm tired'. "

ON HIS LOOKS
"I was always a character actor. I just looked like Little Red Riding Hood. "

ON MARRIAGE
"People stay married because they want to, not because the doors are locked."

ON HIS FOOD BUSINESS (NEWMAN'S OWN)
"When I realized I was going to have to be a whore, to put my face on the label, I decided that the only way I could do it was to give away all the money we make. "

ON THE PUBLIC
"The best letter I've gotten in my whole life was from a lady who wrote: 'I wish you could do something about the neck of your salad dressing bottle. It pours too freely.'
She wrote: 'I am going with this guy and he is married. And we don't get a chance to see each other very often, except maybe every couple of weeks in a hotel. And when I'm pouring the salad dressing, it pours out so fast that it gets all over his chest. Couldn't you have a squeeze bottle or something?' I read this thing and thought, 'My God, America has come to this?' "

ON CHARITY
"I'm not a professional philanthropist, and I'm not running for sainthood. I just happen to think that in life we need to be a little like the farmer who puts back into the soil what he takes out."

ON GAY RIGHTS
"I have never been able to understand attacks upon the gay community. There are so many qualities that make up a human being... by the time I get through with all the things that I really admire about people, what they do with their private parts is probably so low on the list that it is irrelevant. "

ON DEATH
"I'd like to be remembered as a guy who tried — tried to be part of his times, tried to help people communicate with one another, tried to find some decency in his own life, tried to extend himself as a human being. Someone who isn't complacent, who doesn't cop out. "

Lyrics 2

Glory Box by Portishead

I'm so tired
Of playing,
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long

Just. . .Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be...A woman.
I just wanna be a woman.

From this time, unchained
We're all looking at a different picture
Through this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over, and give us some room,Yeah

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be...A woman.
I just wanna be a woman.

So don't you stop bein' a man
Just take a little look from our side when you can
Sow a little tenderness
No matter if you cry

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be here;
A woman.
I just wanna be a woman.
It's all I wanna be is a woman

For this is the beginning of forever and ever
Its time to move over

I'm so tired, of playing
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long

Poem 2

My Dream by Ogden Nash

This is my dream,
It is my own dream,
I dreamt it.
I dreamt that my hair was kempt.
Then I dreamt that my true love unkempt it.

Quote 2

I'm not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I've always been a freak.

Poem 1

For A Poet by Countee Cullen

I have wrapped my dreams in a silken cloth,
And laid them away in a box of gold;
Where long will cling the lips of the moth,
I have wrapped my dreams in a silken cloth;
I hide no hate; I am not even wroth
Who found earth's breath so keen and cold;
I have wrapped my dreams in a silken cloth,
And laid them away in a box of gold.

About Me

My photo
I'm the fun, sarcastic, slightly bored and over it woman you saw at the other end of the bar. And yes, I am laughing at you and your friends. I've got a crazy sensitive BS detector, but I still have a beautiful smile. My friends come to me for advice, tough love and attitude to spare. I get along well with most folks, though I'm never quite sure why. There's a good chance I was mocking them just a few moments earlier. I'm over 30 and a voracious traveler, though I love my house to a startling degree. I still play video games, can probably drink you under the table and my family matters more to me than anything. I'm honest, mostly straightforward and hard to know really well. I've been called judgmental, and I'm working hard to not judge the idiots who said that. I learn from my mistakes, but that's no guarantee that I won't repeat them. I am an incredible friend, a decent worker and (apparently) a terrible girlfriend. But you'll love me anyway. Everybody does ... except those who don't.
